Sappir debut album -  Echoes

Meet Sappir

Sappir was formed by Rabbis Danny Bergson and Mitchell Goodman. Together they explore Jewish melodies with the aim of making them accessible to a wider audience, fusing together many different genres including rock, pop and jazz. They both are passionate about using music to uplift, inspire and bring people together.

Rabbi Danny Bergson trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and continues to train in Opera and traditional music.

He has been playing guitar for over 15 years, and has sung and played at numerous venues across the UK. Danny also sung in the first multi-faith group, All Faiths, producing the single “I Have A Dream” that aired on BBC Radio 2.

Rabbi Mitchell Goodman has been playing and teaching guitar, composing and recording for over 20 years. Having studied at the Guitar Institute of Technology under Shawn Baxter and Dave Kilminster he went on to become an in-demand tutor and session player both in the UK and Israel and a demonstrator for JJ Hucke Guitars. The author of three tuition syllabi for music students he teaches and plays at music events nationwide.

He has produced and recorded guitar for many bands across a very wide musical spectrum spanning rock, jazz, metal, pop, soul, alternative and fusion. He was also the guitarist on Ze’ev Macklin’s “Song of the Drums” projects.

Benjamin Wiltshire is a British musician, singer, composer and recording engineer. Ben studied Popular Music & Recording at Salford University where he studied under bassist Ollie Collins. Ben has contributed to dozens of albums as a session musician and plays live concerts supporting the likes of Humphrey Littleton, Tony Bennett, Embrace and others.

Ben has played bass, produced and composed with several artists, including Gabriel Minnikin, The Nick Holmes Band, Kid Electric, California Bums & Milo Cho. He also regularly plays and directs musical theatre productions. Currently you will find Ben playing with Dominic Halpin and he’s the resident bassist for the Cinnamon Club.

Ben Hirsch is a British drummer and percussionist with over 14 years of experience. Having trained under Dougie Black (who features on “Echoes”), Ben went on to perform as a session musician on a number of recordings and concerts.

With a broad range of musical influences and solid technique he has developed a playing style that spans the genres of rock, pop, jazz, orchestral, latin and show-tunes. Having been part of bands including Jeanie in the Radiator, Kid Electric, League Liege and The California Bums to name a few, he’s always open to new ideas musically. Ben regularly teams up with bassist Ben Wiltshire to form a rhythm section that is a force to be reckoned with.
